A partnership between Mater Education and Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) will see an additional 350,000 placement hours managed through Mater Education’s Student Placement Online Tool (SPOT).
The 12 month contract, due to go live early in 2017 and will enable GCHHS to use SPOT to manage clinical placements for its nursing, midwifery, allied health and medical students.
SPOT is a web based solution for managing and coordinating student clinical placements. Developed by Mater Education to meet its own student placement management needs, the software is now licensed to other healthcare providers, including GCHHS, that host students on placement.
Mater Education SPOT Program Manager, Troy Forster, said Mater was pleased to have GCHHS utilising SPOT.
“Mater is delighted to be working in partnership with another organisation that recognises the importance of education in shaping and building our future workforce,” Mr Forster said.
“We are keen to work with other health organisations, or any organisations who require a similar focus on student record tracking, in the future.”
Director of Nursing, Education and Research at Gold Coast Health Lyn Armit said they had chosen SPOT over other tools due to its simplicity.
“Gold Coast Health is looking forward to the partnership with Mater Education through SPOT, and experiencing the benefits of the “bottom-up information system” approach they have taken in their software build,” Ms Armit said.
